If you don’t take care of what you eat, you don’t take care of your body.
What you eat has a huge effect on the way you think. Foods have chemicals that influence your brain. There are foods that create addiction and make you feel worse, affecting your mood, creating hormonal imbalances, and even health problems.
We could talk about supplements but since you are going to use time and energy in eating, it’s best to get the right foods for you to be happy.
What’s the most basic food your body needs that will make you happy?
Water.
If you don’t drink water you get dehydrated. Dehydration makes you feel tired and lethargic. Around 80% of your brain is water. If you don’t have enough water your mind isn’t going to work properly, your mood will go down, with conflicts in the mind, and this is going to reflect in all the rest of your body as everything is symbiotic. Most of your body is water so…
If you lack in water, you are lacking in vitality.
If you want to rejuvenate and revitalize your body, you should have more water.
Most people love coffee in the morning. I understand it because when you have coffee it gives you a release of dopamine. Make sure that if you enjoy coffee, that you drink more water to balance your body, as coffee dehydrates you.
I don’t enjoy coffee and instead, I have green tea, especially white tea. It gives me a bit of extra energy and it has L-Theanine that helps to reduce stress.
Apart from coffee, most people love chocolate. Make sure that the chocolate you have it’s sugar-free, or it has another kind of sweetener that is more healthy. Sugar creates a pattern of addiction in your brain, so then your mood goes down again.
I am going to share with you some ingredients for boosting your mental activity to be happy.
Food list:
Cacao. It has magnesium, iron, copper, potassium, antioxidants.
Walnuts. Magnesium, vitamin E, omega 3.
Brazil nuts. Selenium.
Bananas. Potassium, vitamin B6.
Berries. Antioxidants, flavonoids.
Hemp. Omega 3.
Chia seeds. Omega 3.
Avocado. Fiber, B vitamins, folate.
Fermented foods (yogurt, tempei and sauerkraut). Probiotics.
Leafy Greens. Folate and magnesium.
Quinoa. Flavonoids, B vitamins, magnesium, iron, amino acids.
Lentils. Folate.
Broccoli. Chromium.
Chromium helps you to crave less sugar, which will help your brain to function better. There are chromium supplements, the same as you can find supplements for anything.
Supplements are handy, but make sure they are good quality and made of natural sources. The body doesn’t absorb well the synthetic forms. Poor quality supplements are a waste of time, money, and energy, it’s totally pointless. It’s best to choose good supplements.
The essential supplements I recommend for a mental boost are:
In the morning
Vitamin C
Zinc
B Vitamins
Lion’s Mane, Shitake, and Reishi Mushrooms
Vitamin D
Before sleep
Gingko Biloba, to improve circulation in your brain.
5-HTP, to sleep better and increase your levels of serotonin.
What else can I recommend you? this advice:
The truth is that happiness is not in food, it is in you. If you have excuses for not being happy, then check if those excuses are worthy of your time. Value more what’s important.
